Do you know that the weight of the plate can affect our perception of food? Or that the size and placement of the dinnerware is related to the consumption of salt and pepper? Yes, eating is much more than food.
Anticipating the future in what to eat, how and where is the new project in which a selection of great talents from the Istituto Europeo di Design are currently immersed thanks to a collaboration between the IED Innovation Lab and IKEA Sweden.
The Swedish giant wants to anticipate the new behaviours in society relating the act of eating and to lead the future of the kitchenware market. To this end, it has participated in a project with a group of students and young professionals, coordinated by Manuel Monteserín, aimed at imagining how food will be served in the future.
This initiative has been led by the IKEA Kitchen and Dining Room team, who have turned to iil for viable ideas for generating new products to manufacture and sell in their stores. Thanks to this process of over two months, innovation is allowing IKEA to stay one step ahead, designing the future to spend less, clean less or...simply live better.
